The announcement which was issued through the 26th of July Monday edition of The Guardian stipulated that data traffic in the Vodafone networks was up about 25% and was mostly due to Smartphone and 3G dongle activity.
In view of these latest developments, Vodafone is reviewing its present business situation and may undergo a strategic change later this year, with more of a focus on data traffic especially in developing markets such as India and China. The overall Vodafone strategic plan remains to boost and continually improve shareholder value.
Vodafone Plc to Focus on Data Growth
Vodafone’s CEO Vittorio Colao had previously warned at the 2010 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Spain that the expected upsurge in data traffic may pose a threat to cellular systems traffic capacity, and urged an immediate upgrade of existing networks.
