On Monday, August 22, 2011, Suite101 chatted with singer-songwriter Jason Sturgeon. He opens up about his indie label, Toolpusher Records, which he owns and manages, as well as his newest album That’s Me and latest single “The Cover.”
Sturgeon’s Biggest Musical Influences
Sturgeon notes that his influences include classic country artists as Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, along with John Mellencamp and Steve Earle.
“My mother thought that I would play in bars, so she did everything she could to keep me from playing guitar. I learned how to play piano, and eventually, it turned around and that’s exactly what I did,” he shares.
